Description

This is a very cost-effective and strong rainwater harvesting structure wherein multiple semicircular arches are made using locally available stones and cement. The cost incurred for the construction of the 100 feet long dam is merely Rs. 10,000.which is 60% lower than conventional check dam.The design has been studied and validated by IIT, Delhi and an architecture group hired by GIAN-W. Further the innovative check dam has been constructed in two sites in Gujarat and one in Rajasthan. 300 such construction has been approved by Govt of Gujarat. |

The innovative device has two extended supporting rod from circular disk that is put on the head, to keep the vessel. So, when any lady wants to give some rest to her head, she can place these two supporting rods on her shoulder, which in turn raises the circular disc just above her head. |

It’s a non-violent castor leaf based silk rearing technique wherein the pupa is not killed before spinning yarn from the cocoons, the adult moth in ericulture is allowed to emerge alive from the cocoon. Eri-silk production is therefore a non-violent activity, which allows the larvae to complete its full life cycle. Traditionally the practice of eri-culture has remained confined to Assam and some other North Eastern States. Where it is practiced as a household activity in the rural areas and helps to earn income generating activities for the rural poor. |

Application
|
In villages, rural women and children collect gum from the trees as a part of their income generation activity. The main source of the gum is the thorny tree Gando Baval (Prosopis juliflora). The gums are collected from the trees by scrapping methods. While scrapping, the collector has to undergo severe pain due to bruises and bleeding injuries caused by thorns on the bark of tree. Also at times, gum falls on ground and mud stick to it resulting in poor quality of gum. |
